SYNOP: (NWS SAN DIEGO)
Stronger offshore flow will continue into this morning, then weaken this afternoon with much weaker offshore flow continuing into Saturday. Stronger and gusty east to northeast winds combined with very low humidity will continue critical fire weather conditions through this afternoon for the mountains, valleys, and inland Orange County with elevated to near critical conditions on Friday and elevated conditions on Saturday. Weak onshore flow will return on Sunday which will begin to spread slow cooling and higher coastal humidity inland.

High pressure aloft will sit off the West Coast through the middle of next week.

· Northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph will surface across the mountains and below the canyons and passes of Southern California this morning.

· Winds will decrease across Southern California this afternoon.

· After today, there will only be local northeast winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph nights and mornings across the wind prone areas of Southern California through the middle of next week.

· Maximum temperatures will be near normal today, with mid 50s to mid 60s across the mountains and 70s to low 80s in the valleys.

· Temperatures will warm to around 5 degrees above normal Friday through the middle of next week.

· Widespread single digit humidity will continue away from the coastal areas through this weekend and then there will be a mixture of single digits and teens for minimum humidity Monday through the middle of next week.

NWS LAS VEGAS SYNOP– (NORTH & EAST OF COUNTY)
A warming trend will commence today. Temperatures will increase to normal by the weekend and may increase slightly above normal by early next week. Very dry conditions will continue through the weekend with minimum humidity in the single digits and overnight recoveries around 15-30 percent. Under the influence of high pressure, fair weather and light winds are
expected next week.

DAILY FUELS/FIRE POTENTIAL:
Strong winds along with widespread single digit humidity will keep the potential for large fire high across Southern California today. Rapid rates of spread and long range spotting will be likely on any new or existing fires in windy areas. The large fire threat will decrease on Friday, but still remain elevated through the middle of next week due to warm and very dry conditions along with locally gusty offshore winds. The warm and very dry conditions will cause fuel moisture to remain critically dry through the middle of next week. Expect heavy initial attack activity today and then moderate IA activity Friday through the middle of next week.

SANTA ANA WILDFIRE THREAT INDEX: TODAY: GREY-NO RATING
Strong Santa Ana winds of 30-40 mph with gusts to 75 mph will occur today. RH will be 5% or less. Expect extreme fire behavior through all types of vegetation. Your final preparations should now be in order. Heed all directions by officials if asked to evacuate

NO RATING: Sundowner winds are either not expected, or will not contribute to significant
fire activity.

MARGINAL: Upon ignition, fires may grow rapidly.

MODERATE: Upon ignition, fires will grow rapidly and will be difficult to control.

HIGH: Upon ignition, fires will grow very rapidly, will burn intensely, and will be very difficult to control

EXTREME: Upon ignition, fires will have extreme growth, will burn very intensely, and will be uncontrollable.
