SYNOP: (NWS SAN DIEGO)
Elevated Fire Weather Conditions through Saturday…
…Very dry with lighter winds

Weak to locally moderate offshore flow will continue at times this weekend. Strongest wind gusts will be near the coastal foothills and below passes and canyons. The winds and very low relative humidity, in the single digits again today, will keep fire weather conditions elevated. Weak onshore flow on Sunday will begin to Spread cooling and higher humidity inland, but it will still be quite dry with minimum humidity of 10 percent or less well inland. Better relative humidity recovery will spread farther inland Monday and Tuesday with light winds expected.

Maximum temperatures will be around 5 degrees above normal through the end of next week, with 60s to low 70s across the mountains and mid 70s to mid 80s in the valleys.

· Widespread single digit minimum humidity will continue away from the coastal areas through this weekend and then there will be a mixture of single digits and teens next week.

· There will be little to no nighttime humidity recovery away from the coastal areas this weekend. A little increase in nighttime humidity recovery will occur early next week, but it will still be poor to fair.

· For the most part, winds will be light across the region through the end of next week. However, there will be local northeast winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph across the mountains and below the canyons and passes of Southern California through early this afternoon and once again Wednesday night through Friday morning.

NWS LAS VEGAS SYNOP– (NORTH & EAST OF COUNTY)
A warming trend will continue through the weekend with above-normal temperatures expected next week. Single-digit minimum RH and poor overnight recoveries are expected to continue. Winds will be very light across most of the region. The exception will be the Colorado River valley where north breezes are expected this afternoon. Light winds are expected areawide by Sunday and are forecast to persist through the upcoming week.

SPECIAL NOTES:

DAILY FUELS/FIRE POTENTIAL:
Even though it will be warm and very dry through the end of next week, the potential for large fire will be low due to light winds. Any offshore winds will be localized and will most likely not cause a fire problem. Moderate rates of spread will be possible on new ignitions in the afternoons if they occur in steep terrain. The warm and dry conditions will cause both the live and dead fuel moisture will remain critically low through the end of next week. Expect light initial attack activity across the region through the end of next week.

SANTA ANA WILDFIRE THREAT INDEX: TODAY: GREY-NO RATING

NO RATING: Sundowner winds are either not expected, or will not contribute to significant
fire activity.

MARGINAL: Upon ignition, fires may grow rapidly.

MODERATE: Upon ignition, fires will grow rapidly and will be difficult to control.

HIGH: Upon ignition, fires will grow very rapidly, will burn intensely, and will be very difficult to control

EXTREME: Upon ignition, fires will have extreme growth, will burn very intensely, and will be uncontrollable.
