SYNOP: (NWS SAN DIEGO)
Cooling will continue to spread inland through Friday as onshore flow strengthens and the marine layer deepens. There will be stronger and gusty southwest to west winds in the mountains and deserts for the late afternoon through late at night with the stronger gusts to around 45 mph. For the weekend into early next week, there will be minor day to day differences in temperatures and the marine layer depth with winds in the mountains and deserts not as strong. A warming trend is expected for the middle to latter part of next week as high pressure over the eastern Pacific expands into California.
Temperatures will be near normal through Monday, with 70s to low 80s across the mountains and 80s to mid 90s in the valleys.

· Minimum humidity will be mainly between 15% and 30% above and inland from the marine layer through Monday.

· The marine layer will be around 2,000 feet deep through Monday.

· Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms will form over the Sierra Crest through Monday.

· Westerly afternoon and evening winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph will surface across the desert passes through Monday.

· A little warming and drying will occur both Tuesday and Wednesday.

· No shower or thunderstorm activity is anticipated across the area Tuesday and Wednesday.

NWS LAS VEGAS SYNOP– (NORTH & EAST OF COUNTY)
Hot temperatures, curing fuels, and afternoon breezes may create fire weather concerns today for a few areas nearing critical thresholds. Cooler air aloft will support daily afternoon shower and thunderstorm chances into next week across the Sierra Nevada and southern Great Basin with temperatures 5-8 degrees cooler by Friday and holding over the weekend. Overnight humidity recovery should help to limit fire in those areas.

DAILY FUELS/FIRE POTENTIAL:
The potential for large fire will decrease over the next several days due to cooler temperatures and a little higher humidity. The most likely area for a large fire to occur will be in and near the desert passes where strong afternoon winds will bring rapid rates of spread and long range spotting to any new ignition. Both the live and dead fuel moisture have decreased significantly over the past several days due to the hot and very dry conditions. Expect light initial attack activity across the region through the forecast period.
