SYNOP:
…EXTREMELY DRY IN THE MOUNTAINS…
…BREEZY IN PARTS OF THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS…

Extremely dry conditions will continue in the mountains, especially today and Saturday with pockets of humidity in the single digits. Breezy winds are expected during the afternoons and
evenings on the lee side of the mountains into the deserts. These dry winds will increase the fire spread potential close to critical levels for a few hours each afternoon and early evening
in these areas. Slightly higher humidity will follow next week.

A weak Pacific trough will remain over the West Coast through the end of next week.

• There will be S-W afternoon and evening winds of 15-25 mph with gusts to 40 mph through the desert passes through the end of next week.
• Maximum temperatures will be near to a little below normal through the end of next week, with mid 60s to upper 70s across the mountains and 80s to low 90s in the valleys.
• Minimum humidity will be mainly in the single digits and teens above and inland from the marine layer, except it will be 12%-25% this weekend.
• Nighttime humidity recovery will be poor above and inland from the marine layer.
• No shower or thunderstorm activity is expected across the region through the forecast period.

A deep trough off the West Coast will create gusty southwest winds through Saturday. Stronger winds can be expected Saturday afternoon and evening across southern Nevada and Inyo County. Dry weather and slightly above normal temps will continue through the weekend.

SPECIAL NOTES: NONE AT THIS TIME

DAILY FUELS/FIRE POTENTIAL:
• The potential for large fire will be low to moderate across the region through the end of next week.
• The best chance for a large fire to occur will be across the desert interface areas, where it will be breezy in the afternoons and evenings.
• Both the live and dead fuel moisture will be extremely low above and inland from the marine layer.
• Expect light initial attack activity to continue across the region through the end of next week.
