SYNOP: (NWS SAN DIEGO)
Isolated showers mainly light today through Monday. A stronger storm system will affect the region Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning with potential for more widespread rain and mountain snow. Strong winds possible Tuesday evening through Wednesday in response to a strong inside slider low. Dry and milder weather Thursday into next weekend.

WEATHER SUMMARY
A storm system will move down the coast and into northern Baja by Monday. While the brunt of the moisture will pass south of the international border, enough moisture will wrap around the low to bring showers to SoCal through Tuesday night. Flash flooding is not expected. Maximum rainfall rates will be to just 0.25″/hr, well below debris flow thresholds. Snow showers will add up over time in the mountains with snow
accumulating above 4500 feet through Tuesday night.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Sunday through Friday

A slow moving storm system will bring periods of snow to locations along the Nevada Border Sunday, then across southern Utah excluding the St George area Sunday night through Monday.
Accumulating snow is expected above 5000 feet.

The recent wet pattern will continue into the middle of the week. The next cold Pacific storm system will reach the Great Basin Tuesday night, then linger across the outlook area Wednesday and Thursday. Significant snowfall is once again possible for most mountain locations and the adjacent higher valleys.

THIS DAY IN WEATHER HISTORY:
2006: A powerful winter storm hit the region on this day and on 3/11. On this day a waterspout came ashore in Encinitas (becoming a tornado). A tree fell over a railroad track and halted traffic. One inch diameter hail fell in Escondido. Hail was widespread throughout San Diego County and even accumulated. Snow fell as low as 1500 feet in elevation. Storm total snowfall was 36 inches fell at Big Bear Lake, Lake Arrowhead and the Palm Springs Tram. 27 inches fell at Pine Cove and Idyllwild, 25 inches at Cuyamaca, 13 inches in Warner Springs, and 12 inches in Pine Valley. All the mountain highways were closed. Roof damage occurred in Guatay. One immigrant was killed and seven were injured near Pine Valley.

1997: A late season Santa Ana wind event brought a heat wave to the coast and valleys. Many high temperatures were the highest temperatures for March on record, including Anaheim, El Cajon, Sun City, and the San Diego Wild Animal Park.
