SYNOP: (NWS SAN DIEGO)
Weakening offshore flow will give way to increasing onshore flow and higher humidity by late Monday and Tuesday as a trough approaches the Coast. Showers are expected to break out Tuesday night into Wednesday and persist into Thursday, along with cooler weather. Dry again on Friday with below average temperatures as another trough approaches from the west. More showers could develop over the weekend, but most of the precipitation is expectd to remain north of the forecast area.

NWS LAS VEGAS SYNOP– (NORTH & EAST OF COUNTY)
High pressure over the western states will result in dry conditions with temperatures several degrees above normal through Tuesday. Unsettled showery weather and cooler temperatures will develop Wednesday and Thursday and also next weekend as Pacific systems move into the Southwest

SPECIAL NOTES:
BI-MONTHLY FUELS DISCUSSION
For Southern and Central California

Updated: Thursday March 14th, 2019
Next Routine Update: Thursday, March 28th, 2019
General Discussion:

After the district was lashed by heavy rain and mountain snow, a break from the wet winter pattern arrived the week of the March 10th. Rainfall amounts were still above 2″ during the past two weeks near higher terrain, but many lower elevations experienced under a half inch of rainfall. The first offshore wind in months occurred across Southern California starting on the 13th, but resource demand continued to be minimal due to wet fuel conditions.Dead, fine fuel moisture will begin to decline over the next two weeks due to the expectation of drier weather.

However, unlike past wet years which saw rapid drying due to hot late March weather, no strong offshore winds or hot periods of weather are expected through the end of the month. This should allow a much more gradual transition from the traditional end of “rainy season” into spring.

DAILY FUELS/FIRE POTENTIAL:
No large fire activity is anticipated across the region through the forecast period.
