SYNOP: (NWS SAN DIEGO)
This weekend will be dry and warm with lighter winds as high pressure builds over the Southwest. Another trough on Monday and Tuesday will bring more gusty winds Monday night through Tuesday night. There is a slight chance of a light showers from the coast to the mountains Monday night through Tuesday. High pressure will build back in during the later part of next week, resulting in dry and warmer conditions.

NWS LAS VEGAS SYNOP– (NORTH & EAST OF COUNTY)
Fair weather and increasing temperatures are expected through the weekend. Breezy southwest winds will likely develop across the Mojave Desert zones on Sunday. Stronger winds will develop Monday and Tuesday as another, more cohesive, weather system moves toward the region. This system will spread shower chances into the southern Great Basin. By mid week, high pressure will bring a drying trend and warming temperatures to the region.

DAILY FUELS/FIRE POTENTIAL:
Seasonal grasses will continue to cure rapidly over the weekend. These fuel beds will be available for ignition at lower elevations across inland valleys and foothills this weekend, but light winds should keep rates of spread slow.

THIS DAY IN WEATHER HISTORY:
2012: A late season storm dropped over a foot of snow in the mountains. 16 inches fell at Arrowbear Lake, 14 at Snow Summit, Onyx Summit at Forest Falls, 12 inches at Mt. San Jacinto Ranger Station, 10 inches at Wrightwood, Big Bear City, and Idyllwild, and 9 inches at Mt. Laguna. This same storm produced strong thunderstorms. A severe thunderstorm hit Anaheim Hills with strong winds once considered a tornado, which damaged a shopping center. Fremont Canyon later reported wind gusts to 63 mph. Thunderstorm winds hit south Hemet, knocking down a tree and ripping off an awning structure on a mobile home. Lightning struck downtown San Diego, damaging a roof of a building and knocking out its power. A waterspout was observed just south of San Clemente Pier. It broke apart as soon as it hit the beach at Cottons Point. Top wind gust at the pier was 71 mph. Another waterspout was observed just off the coast of Oceanside. Strong onshore winds peaked at 83 mph at Burns Canyon.

1956: Strong storm winds hit Chula Vista. It was counted officially as a tornado (one witness, a Texas native, claimed it was). Roof damage was done to 60 homes and extensively to a school. Two were injured by flying glass. Trees were uprooted, TV antennas were toppled and more than 300 windows were shattered. Ten fish were sucked out of San Diego Bay and deposited on the ground. A cold snowstorm brought one foot of snow to Mt. Laguna, at least six inches at Palomar Mountain, and 1.5 inches at Julian.
