SYNOP: (NWS SAN DIEGO)
Strengthening onshore flow will spread cooling and higher coastal humidity inland today with gusty west winds in the mountains and deserts. For late tonight into Tuesday evening, a low pressure system moving through the Great Basin and southwest states will bring cooling, chances for showers along and west of the mountains, with stronger and gusty west winds in the mountains and deserts. Wednesday through Friday will be dry with a warming trend. For next weekend, a trough of low pressure will bring stronger onshore flow spreading cooling and higher coastal humidity inland with gusty west winds in the mountains and deserts.
Westerly winds of 20 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph will surface across the wind prone mountain and desert areas through Tuesday evening.
· Scattered showers will move across the region this evening through Tuesday afternoon.

· Most locations will receive less than a quarter inch of rainfall. However, the Central Sierra will receive between a half inch and an inch of rainfall.

· The snow level will be between 6,000 and 7,000 feet.

· Temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees below normal through Tuesday, with mid 40s to mid 50s across the mountains and 60s to low 70s in the valleys.

· Significant warming and drying will occur Wednesday and Thursday.

· Temperatures will reach the mid and upper 80s across most valley locations by Thursday.

· North winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph will surface across much of Santa Barbara County, the Grapevine, and the desert Tuesday night.

· Local northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph will surface across the mountain and below the canyons and passes of Southern California Thursday morning.

· Temperatures will cool a few degrees Friday and then there will be significant cooling this weekend.

· Scattered showers with light rainfall totals will be possible this weekend depending on the exact track of the trough.
