SOUTH OPS WX:
A Pacific storm will move from Northern California into Northern Nevada today. A weak trough will be over California Wednesday through Friday. A strong ridge of high pressure will start to build into California from the southwest this weekend and it will be directly overhead early next week.
· Scattered showers and isolated afternoon thunderstorms will form mainly over the mountains through this afternoon.
· Most locations that receive rainfall will get less than a quarter inch today.
· The snow level will remain between 6,000 and 7,000 feet across the Sierra today.
· Westerly winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph will continue to surface across the mountain ridges and desert passes through this evening.
· Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal today, with mid 40s to mid 50s across the mountains and 60s to low 70s in the valleys.
· Northerly winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph will surface across Santa Barbara County and the Grapevine both tonight and Wednesday night.
· Significant warming and drying will occur Wednesday and Thursday.
· Temperatures will cool a few degrees Friday.
· There will be westerly winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph through the desert passes Friday.
· A substantial warming trend will take place this weekend through early next week.
· Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees above normal by early next week, with 90s common in the valleys.
· Minimum humidity will be mainly in the teens away from the coastal areas by early next week.

SYNOP: (NWS SAN DIEGO)
A low pressure system moving inland through California today will bring cooling, gusty southwest to west winds in the mountains and deserts, and a chance of showers near the mountains. Dry with a warming trend for Wednesday and Thursday with Thursday high temperatures a few degrees above average. A low pressure system moving into the Pacific Northwest will bring stronger onshore flow to southern California and spread cooling inland on Friday and Saturday with high temperatures a few degrees below average. High
pressure will then bring a warming trend for Sunday into the middle of next week with high temperatures warming to 5 to 10 degrees above average.

NWS LAS VEGAS SYNOP– (NORTH & EAST OF COUNTY)
One more day of elevated winds expected, mostly for eastern Nevada. As a system approaches today and brings showers and isolated thunderstorms to parts of Inyo, Esmeralda, Nye, and Lincoln counties, farther east, dry conditions will continue. Min RH values this afternoon across Mohave county are expected to fall
again to below critical thresholds after 12PM this afternoon through about 6PM this evening. During this time frame, peak wind gusts may reach the 35 mph range and periodically meet Red Flag criteria. The question is how persistent will these winds be during that time frame. With the borderline conditions expected
today, the shorter duration of potential critical thresholds, and lack of lightning or ongoing fire situations across Zone 102 today, opted not to pull the trigger on another RFW. However, a short fuse decision may be needed later today if winds overachieve.

SPECIAL NOTES:

DAILY FUELS/FIRE POTENTIAL:
There will be little or no fire activity across the region through Wednesday due to cool and humid conditions. Warm and dry conditions will allow the dead fuel moisture to dry out late this week and there will be light initial attack activity. IA activity will increase this weekend and early next week as temperatures become well above normal and humidity becomes very low. Even though it will be very warm and dry early next week, the potential for large fire will be low due to light winds.
